Canadian winter meet German-engineered EV

Living through finger-numbing weather, slippery roads and what feels like never-ending snowfalls. Hats off to you, Canadians – you sure are winter pros, and we aim to keep it that way. That’s why Volkswagen EVs are designed to live up to your reputation.

Speak up to warm up

The 2023 ID.4 really brings the heat with heated front seats, mirrors, steering wheel and a windshield. But the coolest part has to be the ID. Light that lets you turn all those features on with a simple voice command.

EV batteries get the cold treatment

Down in our new engineering lab in Chattanooga, we put our hot lithium-ion batteries through the winter ringer, which includes:

  • A 2,113-gallon immersion tank of freezing cold water
  • A drive-in temperature chamber set to -80 oC
  • A thermal-shock shock chamber set to intervals of 70 oC and -40 oC.
